When Music Attacks! March

There are a lot of shows to see and love in March. The winter thaw is slowly beginning.

Cursive with John Congleton & The Nighty Night, Beach Slang

Fri 3/06 @ Black Cat

Doors 10pm / $20 / Tickets

I was mildly obsessed with this band during my early high school years. Well basically any band on the Saddle Creek Records label had my love. I once had an “Ugly Organ” t-shirt that I’ve lost but the CD is still secure on my CD tower. Who doesn’t remember that album cover?

The album is being re-released with a tour to support. From the Black Cat website:  “Expect muscular guitars, pounding drums, driving bass, and most importantly – a live show that is not to be missed.”

The Recluse

Milo Greene

I saw this band open for The Civil Wars (bless that duo, may they reunite soon) at the Lincoln Theater about three years ago and I was immediately hooked.

They played the 9:30 Club in June as the opener for Tune-Yards and they made life blissful. Here’s NPR’s recording of the full concert.

Chill wave excellence.  “A born crooner with a nostalgic-yet-bittersweet tone to his voice, Lewis’ music is an amalgamation of everything great about rock’n’ roll. Great melodies, great lyrics, great influences.”
